We got a new game for Christmas. It is a strategy game of acquisition by surrounding, built on a map of Japan.

We are enjoying this game a great deal. It is simple to learn, but the strategy is complex, making us fairly evenly matched as we all are learning it together.
One thing I like as much as the rules, is the quality of the game pieces. I feel a little superficial, but they are well designed. They are heavy, and stay upright, which is a good thing in a game you have to reach across repeatedly. |
This game also has a great “reveal” at the end, since the calculation of who has won is based upon hidden pieces. Somehow, this makes it all the better. I can highly recommend this, especially if you are a fan of Catan but want something to play that goes a bit faster. (11/362)

Is it suitable for two players, or does it really requires more?
We haven’t tried it with two, but it looks like it is best with 3. We’ll test it a couple of times and let you know.
It is quite a decent game for two people, but I found it much too stressful. The more person game is more fun.
Thanks for the info.
Duly noted – it’s about time to add some more games to the mix for the monthly board game night.
